Random post.
suggested to me by Wan Jing since I was feeling bored

Today was boring cos i spent almost the whole day at home. ok, Im at least going out for a jog tmr. In the afternoon, Jack and I felt bored, so we took out our fullmetal alchemist dvds to watch. I still think FMA rocks! Watched some random episodes (its around 20+). Its somewhere around the part where Maes Hughes gets killed and where his family, friends and the whole military attends his funeral. his young daughter was asking his wife why they are burying her 'Daddy', and she said Daddy has a lot of work to finish and was asking her mum to stop them. everyone was crying. wth, it was dam sad and touching. Hughes loved his family and friends so much and is such a good person la. If you watch, you'll understand.
(ok, most of this post is about FMA, but... oh well. its supposed to be random anyway.)

Here's him with Roy. (Hughes on the left, btw)

yesterday, Jack and I went to our cuzzin’s house in the morning. later, we decided to go to the library, to complete our 30hrs of cip. so after an early lunch, we got to the library and started ‘working’. everything was going on per normal as I was shelving in the children’s section until these two little girls came to me and asked if they could help. I was sorta shocked. so I said hi and asked them if they knew how to. they replied that they learnt from someone last time. so I decided to let them try. handed them one random book each. and… one of them was dam pro. turned, walked and shelved, quickly. the other girl was younger (like in kindergarden) so she took a little longer, but she knew how. I let them shelve the nearer and easier ones, cos I was feeling guilty to let them help me shelve, as it was supposed to be my job. lol, ‘little helpers’ (sounds like santa’s elves). the older girl asked me old one has to be to work there. O.O I didn’t really know, so I said any age. after a while, their mother came and they left. they seemed very enthusiastic (they even said that they wanted to work in the library next time!), but im not so sure bout this when they grow older. just as they left, I went to shelve the adults section and I saw Charmaine! no wait, she saw me first. said hi and stuff. and then I had to continue shelving. later, she had to go to school, so she left. after shelving for a few hours, me and jack left, looking forward to the time the library calls us back for the certs. 30hrs! lol. went back to cuzzin’s house for a lot of fun, and then it’s dinner and farewell.
however, Jack and I didn’t manage to attend the class gathering, which is sad. argh, looked like they had lotsa fun. =(

had a 601 class gathering yesterday! (im only posting today cos I was rushing my stupid book report yesterday… it was long and difficult. but I managed to finish and now im relieved and happy! I would be VERY relieved and happy, if I had finished reading my thick 古典小说 too.)

so, the day started with the alarm clock…… NOT ringing and ranging to wake me, or us up. cos I overslept. I rushed to get everything ready and left the house hastily for the class gathering at habourfront. and I got there. 15 minutes late. Im so sry, Darren and Wan Jing, had to make ur wait for so long. xp. we went to search the vivo automated machine thing, and we decided to go to starbucks. but jack and I don’t usually drink coffee, so we had to watch Darren and Wan Jing drink theirs. after they spent their $7.90 on them. we also compared the two cups of coffee, and looked at children outside riding on some fake robotic animals like giraffes, horses and ponies. lol, they looked funny. then we went back to habourfront mrt station to meet up with Delwyn, Yee Shing, Shu Min and Wei Xuan (In order of their arrival, lol).

Next, we went to mac’s for a quick bite. mcflurrys and burgers and fries. oh ya, thanks delwyn! who wanted to treat us but everyone was too full. Someone suggested pool, so we had to look for the closest swimming pool. but was unavailable. so we had to take mrt to dhoby ghaut, which also had a place for pool. Watched Heroes on Delwyn’s Ipod touch on the way there. We went into a place which looked ulu and I found that my seniors, Victor, Han Sheng, and Wen Jie were playing there! (splashing water on one another. lol) And we started playing too. we booked two tables, one for pros, and the other for the beginners. and I of course, could be found there) It was mine, Jack’s and possibly Wan Jing’s, first time playing. we played against Darren, 3v1. lol. Jack was pro lar. didn’t know how, but he was good, sinking lots of balls. And Wan Jing too, two times doing the final sinking of the black ball successfully. whereas, I was not that good, and was only able to handle left-handed shots. xp. but after some games/practises, I got a little better. Later, my seniors wanted to switch players. I was reluctant, but… oh well. after our playing time was up, I bid farewell to my seniors (whom I am going to see later).

we then went to the arcade at plaza sing. and on the way, Shu Min went off, without us knowing. lol, started with Wei Xuan and Wan Jing playing the House of the dead. haha, Wei Xuan was dam happy when he cleared the first area, while Wan Jing failed at the last part. but after he chose his path, it was GAME OVER for him, like quite instantly. cos the zombie jumped on him. lol. then we went to play the basketball shooting game. and I wasn’t used to it and kept using too much force, resulting in the ball bouncing back. hitting Wan Jing once. Sorry! Later, Darren went to play the Drumania thing. I think he accidently chose the easy ones, so he was looking quite sian when playing. lol. While Wei Xuan was whacking the “drums” like some maniac. lol. he battled against dunno who and had a record of 1 win and 1 lose. and I thought it was good workout for him cos he was sweating when he finished. and I was too busy watching others play that I only played one. we then went our separate ways, cos Delwyn and Yee Shing went to World of Sports and we others headed home (without a group photo again…). Thank you Wan Jing and Darren for your presents! Loved them! + the pea pods were nice too! =D

Jack posted our only photo taken there, so i wont post it.
lol heard that there will be a duck tours trip or smthg. isit.

yesterday, jack and i went to the library for cip work again. but, its only the two of us. cos Wan Jing was down with flu, and Darren’s still overseas (I think he should be back very soon). today’s was weird because we didn’t get to sort the children’s books, which is such a huge section, taking up most of the first floor (considering that there are only two floors). today, we did mostly the general and the adult fiction sections. the adult fiction section is so much easier to shelf as compared to the children’s. im not sure why, but most probably because of tidier shelves, books in better conditions, and less books + shelves. lol.
at around 3+ or 4, while jack and I were entering the lift, Wan Jing appeared suddenly and came with us to the second floor. I was slightly surprised. and then she left after we got to the second floor, since she wasn’t on doing cip. oh ya, we got a fifteen minutes break too! which was like… the first time we got smthg like this. so, jack and I went out of the library to get some food to fill our tummies. and got back. on time. after all that work, we still haven’t reached the 30h mark. =(. maybe we’ll find some time to go soon, again.

argh, books remind me of school…. and homework!
sry, I gtg do my hw now! *rushes to do book report*

today, as usual, jack and i woke up early in the morning and went to school for cca. we passed by ri, got to the rj track and waited there for others. but our senior smsed and we suddenly remembered that our training was at ri gym. so we ran back to ri. at ri, we found out that the gym was locked. wth, so we had to go to rj (again) for training. we did all the same stuff, but were a little slack, cos coach wasnt there.
after training, we were supposed to for a sec 4 farewell lunch. but all the throws pple didnt attend it cos... dont know if its the bad relations with other sections or that sec 4 throwers just dont wanna attend the lunch or wat. so, all the throwers went to subway for lunch. on the way, we met our captain, Martin, and he went with us! its my first time going to subway, if i dont remember wrongly... so we ate that bread and cookie. after we finished, we went out of the subway (lol) and saw the trackers going to pizza hut for the farewell lunch - last year was a farewell dinner.
not that i dont want to bid our sec4 seniors farewell, but i guess... (cant say)
Sorry. but i promise i will go for the farewell lunch/dinner/breakfast/supper next year!

Farewell, my respected sec4 seniors! I wish all of u the best for your future endeavours! And many thanks for fighting so hard for Raffles all these years! (you might also consider continuing to fight for Raffles in RJ)

Warning: this post is totally random. And if u do not like philosophical or confusing stuff, then I advise you not to read it. But if u insist, then suit yourself. (I, Jim Tan, shall not be held liable for any headaches or any form of injury inflicted on the reader.)

I have taken up this challenge, of proving an argument/ statement incorrect, to clear a doubt of my friend, Wan Jing.

I quote from her blog:
time=money
time= life
life=money

since our life= our time on earth, and the ever popular saying
goes time=money. is money = life?
-Quote end-

Firstly, I define the [=]. (this might not be accurate, but should be roughly the same)
P1.Time is [as precious as] money.
P2.Time [is needed in] life.

S1.Thus, Money [is needed in] Life.
(note: to get this, one must sorta substitute the terms in the premises.)
---
1 ) Note that the two [=]s are actually referring to different forms of equivalence. Therefore, the links are broken. It is difficult and might be incorrect to merge the two premises together, to form the final statement/equation.

Assuming that the equation is smooth,
2) See that there are two definitions of [=] and it is also possible that the final equation is: Money is [as precious as] Life
This has a similar meaning to Money [is needed in] life, but there is a slight difference which is noticeable.
(maybe) 2.5) Also, what if the equations are reversed? They can be reversed since they are equivalent. (Like in maths, 2+3=5 is equivalent to 5=2+3.) It becomes: Life is needed in money. AND Life is [as precious as] money. Is there a difference?

3) Now look at premise No.1: Time is [as precious as] money. This is a popular saying. However, there is another form of the saying, which is: “Time is [more precious than] money.” With this as the premise, the final equation changes. It can become: Life is [more precious than] money. (this is possible because the substitution can still take place)
(Note: This, unlike others cannot be reversed, in this case, into Money is [more precious then] Life, because the link is no longer [=], it is now [>]. Like maths, 5>2 is a correct equation, but 2>5 is not.)

Life is more precious than money. Ok, I agree more with this than “Life is as precious as money.”
There are even more forms of defence and arguments, but my brain is strained and I guess I shall have to stop here.
Lastly, I apologise to those who have read this. To some, I might have been crapping around. Sorry.

Tuesday was another day at the library. but Darren wasnt there cos he was (and is) in japan. it is still the same duties: shelving, shelf-reading, straightening, and also helping people find the books that they want. this time, I had the chance to shelve at the young people section, which i've never did before. (but Wan Jing got the videos/films section. shes so lucky.) oh ya, this time i felt better, because I managed to be more of help to pple. I helped this woman find enid blyton books, with some help from Jack, cos he looked under the J section which had 2 enid blyton books, while I only found 1 under JP /JS. I also helped a few other pple in finding books for their kids, which made me happy. =) we left slightly earlier and got the chance to walk in the rain. I enjoyed it. X)
Jack and I have also finished watching the 2 studio ghibli movies. I really liked watching both of them. they are simple, everyday-life-ly, but at the same time, emotional and captivating. i find both movies fun to watch. Ghibli movies always leave deep impressions on me. =D I wanna thank them for producing such excellent works.

On friday, jack, mum and I went to the dentist for a checkup. cos RI doesnt have a dentist... but I think we should hav one. look, even rosyth has one. haha, could still remember the times I went there. X) anyway, the dentist said that my oral health was good. he used those scary-looking tools to clean my teeth. but i thought the process wasnt that scary. oh ya, and my gums bled. quite a lot. my teeth was also polished. but they dont look much whiter than before. oh well, in short, just remember to brush ur teeth at least twice a day and floss them at least once per day (lol, i can still remember from the health education textbooks/lessons!)
On saturday, I went to granny's house in the evening. after dinner, I went to play my cousins' ps2. we played a naruto game which I didnt know how to read. i think it was narutimate accel. anyway, it was a game which i hav been wanting to play cos the psp version had SO little characters compared to the ps2 version. and it felt good using those characters... first, second, third hokages, drunken lee, chiyo, haku, kurenai, kimimaro, sakon n ukon and the list goes on...
later, we played another bleach game. i think it was bleach blade battlers. this one was fun too, but is more difficult to play. again, i loved using the characters! grimmjow, yammy, urahara, ururu, hinamori... =DD
oh ya, recently, me and jack bought two anime films from studio ghibli: whisper of the heart, and the cat returns, adding to our collection. =D havent finished watching them, but I would like to do so VERY soon!
I just cant get enough of anime + their games!

yeay! I just completed FF7 crisis core! ITS FUN! (just like other FF games!)
This game totally rocks! although its in jap, but i found a translation on the net. lol. so i managed to completed the story (with understanding). Crisis core is part 3 (i think) of the FF7 compilation. The storyline is intriguing , graphics are awesome, sounds are outstanding, and gameplay is marvellous. and you should try it, whether or not u are a FFF (final fantasy fan)!
The main protagonist of crisis core is Zack. He dreams of becoming a hero, just like the hero in his heart, Sephiroth. Then things will start to complicated in the middle of the game, where he faces both physical and mental challenges... I shall leave the rest for u to find out!

Here are some of the characters in the game, Genesis, Angeal, Zack, Sephiroth, Tseng and Cloud. (left to right)

This is Zack holding the renowned buster sword in the famous pose.
